Distinguished guests,

Ladies and gentlemen,

Dear friends:

Good evening!

Tonight, we hold a grand Reception to celebrate the 64th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China at world-renowned Sydney Opera House. On behalf of the Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in Sydney, I would like to extend warm welcome and heartfelt thanks to the presence of all the distinguished guests. I would like to take advantage of this opportunity to express my appreciation to Premier O'Farrell and the NSW government for attaching great importance on relations with China. I also want to especially thank Ambassador Ma Zhaoxu. He came from Canberra to attend this Reception. It's our great honor to have you here, Ambassador Ma.

I also want to tell you that the national anthems of our two countries were played by the young musicians from Beijing Golden Sail Symphony Orchestra who will give a special performance after our Reception. Let's give them a round of applause.

During the past 64 years since the founding of the People's Republic of China, especially since the reform and opening up, China has made remarkable achievements in economic development, social progress and people's livelihood, which left a splendid page in the history of the world. In recent years, China also played an important part in confronting the global financial crisis. Currently, facing complicated world economic situation, the Chinese government adopts scientific policies to conduct macroeconomic management, adheres to seek progress amidst stability, pursues growth through innovation, and makes overall arrangements for stabilizing economic growth, adjusting economic structure and promoting reform. The fundamentals of China's economic development are positive. China has a brighter future.

After years of arduous exploration, the Chinese people finally found a suitable development path for themselves. And they are advancing steadily on this path towards the realization of the "Chinese Dream". The core of the "Chinese Dream" is "a prosperous and strong country, the great rejuvenation of the nation, and people's welfare and happiness". It is a dream of peaceful development, win-win cooperation and openness and inclusiveness. In their pursuit of better lives, 1.3 billion Chinese people will make positive contributions to the lasting peace and common prosperity of the world. The "Chinese Dream" will bring to the world new hope, new opportunities and new driving forces, and surely will receive understanding, support and assistance from other countries of the world.

Over the past 41 years since the establishment of our diplomatic relationship, China-Australia relations increasingly became mature and closer. At the beginning of this year, the two countries established China-Australia strategic partnership based on mutual trust and mutual benefit as well as the prime ministers' regular meeting mechanism. After the new Australian government came into power, it expressed the willingness to place importance on relations with China, actively and constructively promote mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields based on existing achievements for many times. China stands ready to work with Australia, from a strategic height and a long-term perspective based on mutual respect, equality and mutual benefit, continuously strengthen bilateral exchanges, communication and cooperation in all fields, to push forward China-Australia strategic partnership for unceasing new progress.

Currently, the exchanges between China and NSW in political, economic and trade, cultural and other fields are getting increasingly closer and achieved remarkable results. It is worth mentioning that, for the first time, China became the largest source of overseas tourists in NSW recently; for the first time, the famous iconic building-Sydney Opera House turned red to mark the start of Chinese lunar New Year; for the first time, the NSW government held a special celebration for Chinese traditional Mid-autumn Festival at the Parliament House. Those "firsts" demonstrate that the relationship between China and NSW are expanding towards higher level and wider fields as well as bringing together the hearts of Chinese and Australians. Hereby, on behalf of the Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in Sydney, I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to our friends from all walks of society who care and support the development of our bilateral relations.

In conclusion, I wish the friendship and cooperation between the peoples of China and Australia enjoy unceasing development, wish all the distinguished guests and dear friends present good health.

Thank you!
