On September 14, 2018, the plenary session and closing ceremony of the 16th meeting of the China-Venezuela High-level Mixed Committee was successfully held in Beijing. China and Venezuela conducted in-depth and fruitful communication on cooperation in fields including energy and mineral resource, agriculture, industry, science and technology, finance, culture, and social affairs. Through the communication, the two sides reached extensive consensus and yielded fruitful results. President Nicolás Maduro of Venezuela, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and Director of the National Development and Reform Commission He Lifeng attended the meeting.
In his speech, President Nicolás Maduro highly recognized the significance of the Committee in promoting the mutually beneficial and friendly cooperation between Venezuela and China. Nicolás Maduro expressed that since the 21st century, Venezuela and China have explored a development path of win-win cooperation, and formed a new situation for bilateral practical cooperation in multiple dimensions and various areas. The Committee this time will sign a series of cooperative agreements, which will bring tangible benefits to the two countries and the two peoples. The Venezuelan side has been committed to improving Venezuela-China comprehensive strategic partnership to a new level to further enhance bilateral exchanges and cooperation in various fields.
Wang Yi extended congratulations on the success achieved by the Committee. He emphasized that China and Venezuela are good partners sharing mutual trust, enjoying mutually beneficial cooperation and standing together through thick and thin. The Chinese side is willing to work with the Venezuelan side to help each other, work in solidarity and cooperation, intensify high-level exchanges, deepen political mutual trust, and enrich people-to-people and cultural exchanges. The Chinese side will take President Nicolás Maduro's visit to China as an opportunity and the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative as a driving force to constantly enrich the new connotation of the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Venezuela, and spare no effort to break a new ground of mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries.
At the meeting, relevant authorities and enterprises of the two countries signed multiple cooperative agreements.
