Wang Yi Meets with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Peter Szijjarto of Hungary


On September 25, 2018 local time, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Peter Szijjarto of Hungary on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

Wang Yi expressed that China-Hungary relations enjoy quite sound development, and there is no problem between the two countries. The Budapest-Belgrade railway is a landmark project of China-Hungary cooperation and the "16+1 cooperation", as well as is of important significance for the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative. The Chinese side is willing to intensify coordination with the Hungarian side, so as to promote important cooperation projects between the two countries for smooth implementation. Both sides should coordinate closely to jointly well hold the commemoration activities marking the 70th anniversary of the establishment of China-Hungary diplomatic relations next year. The Chinese side respects the Hungarian side's right to independently choose its development path, is glad to see Hungary play a greater role within the European Union, and is willing to intensify bilateral communication and cooperation in international affairs.

Peter Szijjarto expressed that Hungary-China friendship has been deeply rooted in people's hearts, and Hungary-China cooperation has been constantly deepened. The Hungarian side also respects the Chinese side's right to independently choose the development path. The current Hungarian administration will continue to commit to advancing friendly policies toward China, and deepen Hungary-China relations on the basis of mutual trust. The Hungarian side stands ready to strengthen bilateral cooperation in such fields as economy, trade and tourism, and actively promote major cooperation projects including the Budapest-Belgrade railway. The Hungarian side agrees that both countries should intensify communication and coordination in multilateral fields.
