On September 27, 2018 local time, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi attended the breakfast meeting of Foreign Ministers of permanent members of the United Nations (UN) Security Council and UN Secretary-General António Guterres in New York.

Wang Yi said that China supports multilateralism, supports the UN in playing a central role in international affairs and supports the work of the UN Secretary-General. The Security Council, especially the permanent members of the Security Council, has an important responsibility for the maintenance of international peace and security. The five countries should be aware of their special responsibilities, maintain the stability and continuity of their own policies, take the lead in abiding by the UN charter and international agreements, enhance coordination and communication, promote unity and coordination and respond to the general expectations of the international community.

Foreign Ministers of the five countries exchanged views with António Guterres on issues of common concern, including the Korean Peninsula situation, the Syrian issue and the Iranian nuclear issue.
