|Yang Jiechi Meets with Foreign Minister Heiko Maas of Germany|
On November 12, 2018, Member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and Director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the CPC Central Committee Yang Jiechi met in Beijing with Foreign Minister Heiko Maas of Germany.
Yang Jiechi expressed that China-Germany relations have achieved substantial development under the strategic guidance of the leaders of the two countries. Both sides enjoy frequent and close high-level exchanges, constantly increased mutual trust and broad cooperation prospects. The constant and sound development of bilateral relations conforms to the fundamental interests of the two countries and is also the common expectation of the two peoples. The Chinese side is willing to, together with the German side, deepen cooperation in various fields, strengthen communication and coordination in international and regional affairs, and jointly make positive contributions to promoting an open world economy, safeguarding multilateralism and maintaining world peace and stability.
Heiko Maas noted that as China has played an increasingly crucial role in global issues, it is of strategic significance for Germany and China to strengthen cooperation. The German side opposes trade protectionism and stands ready to commit to safeguarding multilateralism with the Chinese side.
