|Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith of Laos Meets with Wang Yi|
On December 16, 2018 local time, Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith of Laos met in Vientiane with State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
Wang Yi conveyed Premier Li Keqiang's warm greetings to Thongloun Sisoulith. Wang Yi said that under the personal guidance and promotion of the top leaders of the two parties and the two countries, China-Laos relations have developed in a rapid and in-depth manner. General Secretary Xi Jinping and General Secretary Bounnhang Vorachit proposed to build a community with a shared future of strategic significance between China and Laos, which fully embodies the particularity of China-Laos relations at the bilateral level and the strategic significance at the international level. This is also the first time since China proposed the concept of building a community with a shared future for mankind to build a community with a shared future between countries at bilateral level, which is of great exemplary significance. The Chinese side is willing to work with the Lao side to take the implementation of the consensus reached by the top leaders of the two countries as the main line to cement bilateral high-level exchanges, and promote all-round cooperation.
Wang Yi pointed out that the Chinese side supports the Lao side's efforts in promoting its economic and social development, and is willing to strengthen the alignment of co-building the Belt and Road Initiative with the Lao side's development strategy of transformation from a land-locked country into a land-linked one, reach an agreement on the cooperation planning of China-Laos Economic Corridor at an early date, strengthen Laos' capacity for independent development, focus on well building the China-Laos railway, and advance the economic belt along the railway in an orderly manner, so as to achieve more practical results in practical cooperation between the two sides.
Thongloun Sisoulith welcomed Wang Yi's official visit to Laos. Thongloun Sisoulith expressed that Laos and China enjoy special and friendly relationship, with a solid foundation of political mutual trust. The Lao side is willing to well plan and implement the agenda of major bilateral exchanges next year and deepen practical cooperation in various fields with the Chinese side. At present, the two sides have been stepping up communication and coordination on the action plan for building a community with a shared future of strategic significance between the two countries. It is believed that it will be reached and signed at an early date, so as to make clear the direction for promoting the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries.
